North Shore resident Rebecca Gates is this year's Hale'iwa Arts Festival limited edition print artist. Her original 16" x 20" pastel was made on canson paper of a small boy playing with a garden hose, watering a young avocado tree. Rebecca says her work was inspired by her neighbor's grandson as she watched him in the yard. She explains, "I related him to all the volunteers, participants, and supporters of this new festival, having fun, and learning while nurturing the festival's growth, as he (the little boy) is nurturing the growth of the tree."

Only 1000 limited edition prints of "Our First Year", an original pastel by Rebecca Gates, were printed for the Hale'iwa Arts Festival.
